In our second Live Cast episode, Jen sat down with Alcon’s Head of Performance Development Alastair Douglas and Operations Manager Georgia Huffman to talk about how they started and built one of the most successful corporate streaming networks for field sales teams. Hear firsthand how Alcon’s leaders designed a video and audio streaming program for cultivating a Learning Culture, ensuring content is maximally accessible and easy to digest and use.

(4:10) - Program Strategy. Alcon values a Learning Culture across the company and they wanted to use their media streaming program to reinforce this learning culture. The challenge with their sales team was finding time in their schedule for learning and development. The solution to this challenge was podcasting. Their sales team could listen to a podcast while driving to their next appointment or watch a short video right before an appointment to refresh their memories.
(9:05) - Content Strategy. Alcon has a massive library of content for their audience to watch or listen to. They built the majority of their library by simply taking their current training content and repurposing it in a compelling way for their audience in an audio or video podcast format.
(22:51) - Promotion Strategy. Alcon’s promotion strategy involves adding discovery links to their weekly communications as a constant reminder of the podcast content and encouraging their training managers to drive their sales staff to uStudio to find answers to common questions in the field. They have combined this promotion with integrating uStudio into their new-hire training to increase their adoption rate exponentially.
