On April 30th, YouTube announced a slick new feature for content partners: three-second intro videos. If a YouTube channel has a standard introduction for its videos, it can now be uploaded once. Instead of baking an introduction into every video, users just need to change some simple settings and every video on their channel will play the intro before the video. This allows content creators to more easily brand their videos, produce more quickly and behave just like shows on TV! Of course, most introductions on your old-school TV show are a bit longer than three seconds, but we all know that once you’re on YouTube that three seconds feels like an eternity!

The tool is great for people that publish webcam videos every day. Being able to easily add a highly produced intro video can really improve the viewing experience and offer a great branding tool to YouTubers. For content that goes through the editing process, this tool isn't quite as useful, but it does give content owners the ability to change out the intro for all of there videos in a few clicks!

One important thing to note: Don’t use those intros as a commercial, product placement, etc. Or the Tube might come after you!

What’s your favorite TV Intro? I’m going retro with my pick, Car 54 Where Are You?
