Introducing Automated Video Transcription

uStudio Staff | Data & Analytics, Live Video, News & Events, Video Platform

Today we announced a new capability that leverages an emerging class of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to automate time-coded video transcription. The push-button feature generates Soundwave Transcript™ files in real-time, which immediately trigger the creation of subtitle files and editable, searchable video metadata fields used to manage the video asset, with zero human intervention.

This is the first of several capabilities to come from uStudio Labs as part of our continued investment in deep learning and AI for video.

uStudio customers started using this feature in August as part of an internal roll-out and have already seen material productivity gains. Key applications and benefits include:

  • Closed Captions and Subtitles: Using Soundwave Transcript files, the uStudio Platform automatically creates WebVTT files for video captioning which may be edited in place or shared externally for review or localization.
  • Video Search: Soundwave Transcript files help video users and managers more easily search for and find specific video clips, whether a concert highlight, product demonstration or training tutorial. In addition, files automatically generate searchable metadata fields for smarter video publishing, translating into easier search across web pages and mobile applications, better SEO and personalized content delivery.
  • Governance: Soundwave Transcript capabilities make it possible for businesses – as part of audits, recalls and essential liability protection — to easily and quickly identify the contents of every video in their corporate library.
  • VOD and Live Streams: In addition to standard video-on-demand (VOD), the uStudio Platform can incorporate Soundwave Transcript technology into live streams.
