Members of the uStudio team have attended the NAB Show for over ten years, which has provided a great opportunity to watch the evolution of both the show itself, as well as the role of electronic media in our lives. Perhaps the most poignant of these changes, at least from our point of view, is the ongoing proliferation of video content across platforms and devices.
Yet as the desire grows to make video available everywhere, so to does the complexity around the end-to-end (or cradle-to-grave) management of that video. Because media and entertainment companies have the longest history of producing and managing video – it’s their product after all, so they have the most incentive to master it – they have the inside track. They are video natives (and NAB natives) and are navigating the sea change with proficiency. But new faces are arriving in droves to NAB, many of them large enterprise and consumer companies who are equally impacted by the sea change in video, but are somewhat less equipped than their media and entertainment brethren to manage it. In many cases, they lack the historical basis for managing video, the institutional knowledge or the resources to adequately support all of the video workflows that have emerged. This trend is being further exacerbated by consumer and social media, which set the bar high in the audience’s mind for what a video experience or interaction should feel like. Businesses are struggling to keep pace with video overall, and to a greater degree, struggling to provide the same quality of video experience – be it for live broadcasting or video sharing – that an employee or customer can find in their private consumer lives.
This is what has always attracted uStudio to NAB. The opportunity to share and exchange our knowledge of video workflows with content creators, media managers, and increasingly, business executives, keeps us on the cutting edge, so we can continue to help any organization that touches video manage and distribute it with ease and efficiency.
Last year at NAB, our Co-Founder Josh Marshall gave an instructional talk on how to organize your cloud-based video assets and workflows for revenue growth. This year, Josh is back in action, speaking alongside Brian Gant, Director of Media Services for Rackspace, and Guillaume Aubuchon, CTO of Digital Film Tree. The three will be giving daily presentations in the Rackspace booth (#N6138) on the Future of Cloud Video Management.
So if you find yourself attending the NAB Show this year, make sure to stop by and see Josh and team. No matter where you live in the video ecosystem (creator, manager, executive), and no matter where you live in the cloud (applications, platforms, or infrastructure), Josh and co-horts will make sure to deliver news you can use as you strive to stay on top of the most important electronic media trend of our generation… video everywhere.
