Why You Should Survey Your Podcast Users
uStudio Staff | Podcasting
These days, if you can’t measure it then it doesn’t matter. Although uStudio’s podcast analytics gives you detailed named-user data covering a wide-range of insights, surveying your podcast users can allow you to get even more figures to work with.
Especially if you are in the early stages of your podcast program, and only have analytics for a few published shows, you can consider surveying your users to quickly get preferences that can shape your future content. Surveys can also allow you to build stronger relationships with your employees as you are asking them to share their honest opinions and feedback. They will be more excited to listen to your content if they know it is based on their unique needs.
Here at uStudio, we recommend surveying your podcast users one to two times per year. We also recommend surveying your audience 6 months post launch, when your program is established and gaining traction. The purpose is to get additional overall feedback and specifics on what the audience would like to receive. If something within your program needs to be changed, it’s better to fix it sooner than later.
It can also be a great idea to survey specific users who are very active within the uStudio app. This way, you can ensure they become habitual users and their needs and preferences continue to be met. It can also gain some insight on why some people are tuning in and others are not. Thankfully, uStudio offers group analytics so you can compare usage across different teams, locations, seniority level and more.
There are many different aspects you can dive into through a survey. Below are some example questions.
Example Questions Related to the App:
- What advantage does having a mobile podcast app give you?
- How could we improve the sign up process?
- Have you recommended the podcast app to a colleague?

In addition to uStudio’s analytics such as total plays, habitual users, subscriptions and more, survey results are great information to share with your business stakeholders when communicating program success. Once you have your survey results, you should come up with ideas or action items next to each question and data point.
The only way you can fully cater to your employees and provide them with targeted private podcast content that they will enjoy, is to truly understand them and their listening habits. Thankfully, with uStudio’s enterprise podcast analytics you are already one step closer to success.
